چکیده

This contribution presents the methodology we are currently developing in the framework of the EUMETSAT Land-SAF to estimate the evapotranspiration all over Europe by means of Satellite Remote Sensing (SRS). We present here the first validation results with data from two meteorological sites (Cabauw, MUREX) and output of the model run on a low resolution grid laid over Europe, for selected hours of the day. For the "on grid" validation, data to force the model was gathered from ECMWF (European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecast) archives in order to simulate MSG derived data which in the operational phase will come from other Land-SAF products. A sensitivity analysis performed on model runs with forcing data for the site of Cabauw (NL) is also presented.

How energy and water availability constrain vegetation water-use along the North Australian Tropical Transect

Energy and water availability were identified as the first order controls of evapotranspiration(ET) in ecohyrodrology. With a ~1,000 km precipitation gradient and distinct wet-dry climate, the North Australian Tropical Transect (NATT) was well suited for evaluating how energy andwater availabilities constrain water use by vegetation, but has not been done yet. In this study,we addressed this que...

Towards a continuous monitoring of evapotranspiration based on MSG data

In the framework of the EUMETSAT’s Land Surface Analysis– Satellite Application Facility (LSA–SAF), a method was developed to estimate evapotranspiration (ET) over Europe. The methodology follows a Soil Vegetation Atmosphere Transfer (SVAT) approach. LSA–SAF provides main forcings deduced from Meteosat Second Generation (MSG): visible and infrared surface radiative fluxes and daily surface albe...

Hydrologic responses of watershed assessment to land cover and climate change using soil and water assessment tool model

Predicting the impact of land cover and climate change on hydrologic responses using modeling tools are essential in understanding the movement and pattern of hydrologic processes within the watershed. The paper provided potential implications of land conversions and climate change scenarios on the hydrologic processes of Muleta watershed using soil and water assessment tool model. Model inputs...

Accounting for Pliem-Xiu and NOAH Module to Simulate Dust: A Case of Western Areas of Ahwaz

Extended abstract 1- INTRODUCTION In the arid and semi-arid areas of Asia, dust storms occur frequently. Much progress has been made in the monitoring modeling and prediction of Asian dust storms. Dust emission is caused by wind erosion in the sensitive areas. Wind erosion is described as the transportation of soil particles by means of the wind. Soil Surface moisture is one of the most i...

Geomorphic and land cover assessment of dust sources affecting the west and North-West Iran

Background and Amis: The most important environmental challenges facing the West of iran in recent years is the dust phenomenon, that today has become one of the most important problems in arid and semi-arid areas. This phenomenon occurs as a climatic phenomenon in all climatic conditions, that causes adverse social, economic, environmental and commercial impacts. In this research have used dus...
